"Evidently there's been a communication breakdown at some point but This is the first time I've faced that before, and I haven't really seen that in the past. It's absolutely inexcusable"
"We cannot comprehend how on a active circuit track officials can be allowed to just run across the track like that. I'm clueless about the cause, I'm certain we'll get some form of reasoning, but it really can't happen again"
Formal Inquiry in Progress
The sport's regulatory authority, the International Automobile Federation (FIA), is thoroughly reviewing the situation
"After an occurrence at turn one, the race directors was notified that debris was present on the track at the turning point of that curve" stated the governing body
"During the third lap, marshals were alerted and put on alert to access the circuit and recover the debris once every vehicle had gone by"
"The moment it was realized that Lawson had pitted, the directives to deploy personnel were canceled and a double yellow flag was shown in that area"
"We are still investigating what happened after that point"
